Terms
The terms of sale for Retake Pro, followed by the licence agreement in full.
Last updated 9 October 2026.
Who you are buying from
Retake Pro is sold by Mark Hammond, trading in the United Kingdom. Contact: support@retake-pro.com.
What you are buying
A perpetual licence to use Retake Pro, issued to you as a named person. The software is licensed, not sold; you do not acquire ownership of it. The licence lifts the one restriction of Trial Mode: with it, a project that uses the Full Version features (pointer path editing, automatic zooms, 3D rotation, the keystroke overlay, captions in the video, camera background removal, and 4K or HEVC export) can be exported. The licence terms are reproduced in full below.
The licence applies to Retake Pro, the edition sold on this website. It does not unlock Retake - Screen Recorder, the Mac App Store edition, which is sold separately through the App Store.
Price and payment
The price is shown on the purchase page in pounds sterling and is a single payment. There is no subscription. Payment is taken by Stripe; card details are entered on Stripe's page and are never seen or held by the seller.
Delivery
Delivery is electronic and immediate. Your licence key is shown on the confirmation page as soon as payment clears, and is emailed to the address you gave. Nothing is shipped.
Your right to cancel
If you are a consumer, you ordinarily have 14 days from purchase to cancel for a refund. However, because the licence key is supplied immediately, you are asked to acknowledge at checkout that supply begins straight away and that your 14-day right to cancel ends once it has. This is the statutory position for digital content supplied before the cancellation period expires, and it is why the acknowledgement is taken before payment rather than after. If you would prefer to keep the cancellation right, do not buy yet. Trial Mode has no time limit and lets you evaluate every feature; only the export of a project that uses a Full Version feature requires a licence.
Your statutory rights
Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected: digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If it is not, you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund as the law provides.
Acceptable use
Your key is issued in your name. Do not share it: anyone holding it can activate the software in your name.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
Licence agreement
This is the agreement under which Retake Pro is licensed. It applies when a licence key is activated.
Retake Pro is licensed, not sold.
Who may use it
A licence key is issued to a named person, and use is permitted by that person only. There is no device limit: you may install and use Retake Pro on as many Macs as you personally use, and no activation server is contacted at any point. A licence is not transferable, and the key should not be shared, because anyone holding it can activate the software in your name.
Your statutory rights
If you are a consumer, you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including that digital content be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described, which cannot be excluded or restricted. Nothing in this licence affects those rights, and the two paragraphs below apply to you only so far as the law allows.
No warranty
Subject to the paragraph above, the software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. No guarantee is given that it is free of defects, or that any given recording or project will be captured, edited or exported correctly.
Limitation of liability
Subject to your statutory rights, the author's total liability arising out of or in connection with this licence is limited to the amount you paid for it. Neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, or loss of anticipated savings.
Cancellation
If you bought as a consumer, you have 14 days from purchase to cancel for a refund. Where you ask for your licence key immediately, you are asked to acknowledge that the 14-day period ends once supply has begun, which is the statutory position for digital content.
Technical measures
A licence key is required to export a project that uses the Full Version features. The key you enter is verified on your Mac and stored, with the name it was issued to, in a single file readable only by your user account:
~/Library/Application Support/Retake/license.txt
No other technical protection measure is applied and no personal data is collected. The software's only network connection of its own is a periodic check for a new version, which carries no personal information. Removing the licence, or deleting that file, returns the software to Trial Mode.
Governing law
Nothing in this document limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
This licence and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it, its subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims) are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any such dispute or claim.
